• Define the role of Regional Centres in the Computing Model; Develop a realistic picture of

  • Site Architectures
  • Hardware, Software and Management Services Provided
  • Necessary or Resource-Driven Variations from Site to Site
  • Modes of Operation
  • The Ensemble of Centres as a Distributed Data Analysis “System”

• Identify and “develop” candidate sites

  • Identify their relative roles

• Assist/coordinate national proposals, where helpful

  • Work to the necessary timelines for each funding agency

• Develop and test prototypes

  • Develop a technically and financial “sound” candidate Model
  • Aim at a Conceptual Design by 2000 or 2001
